Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer | Mission Critical Facilities

(Confidential – Top National A/E Firm)

Why This Role Exists

A nationally respected architecture + engineering practice is expanding its mission-critical engineering group and is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex, high-reliability facilities. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of technical excellence, client trust, and long-term career growth, not a commodity engineering seat.

The Firm (What Sets Them Apart)

This is a tight-knit, highly experienced team within a larger, integrated A/E platform. Engineers here are trusted advisors, not production drafters, and are given real ownership over design decisions and client relationships. Leadership is hands-on, accessible, and deeply technical. The firm is consistently selected for mission-critical, data-driven, and infrastructure-heavy projects where performance, uptime, and accountability matter most.

You’ll be joining a group known for:

  • Long-tenured engineers and low turnover
  • High design standards without unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Strong repeat-client relationships across critical sectors

The Role (Beyond the Job Description)

This position focuses on end-to-end electrical design leadership for large, complex mission-critical projects, from early concept through construction administration. You’ll coordinate directly with clients, lead internal discipline teams, and influence design strategy rather than simply executing tasks handed down to you.

This is not a role for someone looking to stay narrowly scoped. It is a role for an engineer who wants:

  • Visibility with leadership
  • Technical authority on projects
  • The ability to mentor and shape younger engineers

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Leading electrical system design for mission-critical facilities
  • Developing power distribution, lighting & controls, and fire alarm systems
  • Managing electrical design documentation from schematic design through CA
  • Serving as Electrical Discipline Lead on large, complex projects
  • Coordinating with other engineering and architectural disciplines
  • Performing short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies (SKM, ETAP, EDSA, or similar)
  • Preparing Basis of Design documentation and code research
  • Supporting project budgeting, staffing, and man-hour estimates
  • Reviewing submittals, RFIs, and responding to client requests promptly
  • Mentoring engineers and contributing to technical growth within the team

What They’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 6+ years of experience in the A/E consulting industry
  • Strong mission-critical or high-reliability project exposure
  • Revit and BIM proficiency
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems coordination across disciplines
  • Clear communicator who can interface confidently with clients and internal teams

LEED accreditation is a plus, but not required.

Why Engineers Say “Yes” to This Role

  • Projects that are technically challenging and respected in the industry
  • A culture that values quality, accountability, and continuous learning
  • Real career progression—not title inflation
  • The ability to influence outcomes rather than just meet deadlines

Next Step

If you’re a Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys mission-critical work and wants to be part of a team where engineering judgment still matters, this is worth a conversation.
